The Spring Festival is the most important holiday in China. It usually comes in January or February. During this time, people clean their houses and decorate them with red paper cuts and lanterns. Red is a lucky color in Chinese culture.
On the eve of the Spring Festival, families get together for a big dinner. They eat dumplings, fish, and many other delicious foods. After dinner, children receive red envelopes filled with money from their grandparents and parents. This is called "hongbao."
During the festival, people also set off fireworks and firecrackers to drive away bad luck. Children love this part because the lights and sounds are very exciting.
I like the Spring Festival because it is a time for family and fun. I always look forward to it every year. I hope you can also experience this beautiful festival one day.
