Tortoise and Hare Race in Simple English

Once upon a time, there was a tortoise and a hare. They were friends, but they liked to compete with each other. One day, the hare said, "I am so fast! I can run faster than anyone!" The tortoise smiled and replied, "Maybe you can, but let's have a race to see who is really faster."

The race began near the forest. Many animals came to watch. The hare started running very quickly. He thought to himself, "This tortoise is slow. I can take a nap before he catches up." So, he lay down under a tree and fell asleep.

Meanwhile, the tortoise kept walking steadily. Step by step, he moved forward without stopping. After some time, the hare woke up. He looked around and saw that the tortoise was still far behind. Feeling confident, he ran as fast as he could toward the finish line.

But guess what? The tortoise had already reached the finish line! All the animals cheered for him. The hare felt sad and ashamed. He realized his mistake of being overconfident.

From that day on, the hare learned an important lesson: Slow and steady wins the race.
